Recently, Sowmya has moved to Irvine, California, and Carnatic Music School is now accepting new students!
In-person classes are conducted on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays, and online classes are conducted on Thursdays & Fridays. If you are interested in joining classes, kindly submit the interest form!
Sowmya has been learning vocal Carnatic Music since her early childhood from various gurus.
She recieved advanced training in Carnatic music from Smt. Akhila Krishnan -- a senior Carnatic vocalist from New Delhi, India.
Sowmya has performed several times in local events and concerts in New Delhi, Muscat, Miami, & the Bay Area!
She has performed regularly in the Yuva Vani section of the All India Radio and given many public concerts in India, which include the Sahithya Kala Parishad's 8th Yuba Mahotsava (1993).
Sowmya has also participated in competitions, winning numerous awards including the first prize in Sangeethayan's All India Music Competition (1992).
Throughout the years, Sowmya has conducted Annual Student Performances. Students get the opportunity to sing on stage and learn all of the elements required to do so (such as practicing their song, singing with a microphone, stage presence, and more)!
Although for the past few years she has been unable to host an Annual Student Performance due to the pandemic, Sowmya hopes to continue this tradition once it is safe to do so!
